In the 3rd quarter of 2017 a half of Slovenian residents went on private trips

In the 3rd quarter of 2017 one in two Slovenian residents aged 15 years or more went on at least one private trip. Almost two million private trips were made. Two-thirds of all private trips were made abroad, of which 80% in Croatia.

One in two Slovenian residents went on at least one private trip
Between July and September 2017 around 925,000 persons or 53% of the total resident population aged 15 years or more went on at least one private trip. They went on around 1,914,000 private trips all together, which is 4% more than in the same period of the previous year.

Two-thirds of private trips were made abroad
34% of private trips were made in Slovenia and 66% abroad, of which 80% in Croatia. Private trips abroad were, on average, more than twice as long as those in Slovenia (7.1 overnight stays abroad and 3.3 overnight stays in Slovenia). 

On 55% of private trips tourists stayed in rented accommodation establishments
On 55% of private trips tourists stayed in rented accommodations: in hotels and similar establishments (17% of private trips), in campsites (13% of private trips) and in other rented accommodation establishments, such as private rooms, holiday dwellings, etc. (25% of private trips). On 45% of private trips tourists stayed in non-rented accommodations: in own secondary homes (23% of private trips) and at friends and relatives (22% of private trips).

Tourists who on private trips stayed in a hotel spent on average EUR 78 per day
Tourists on private trips spent on average EUR 40 per day; on private trips in Slovenia they spent on average EUR 31 per day and on private trips abroad on average EUR 42 per day. Tourists staying in a hotel or a similar establishment spent daily on average the most (EUR 78) and tourists staying in their own secondary homes the least (EUR 16).
