In November 2017 confidence in retail trade, manufacturing and services higher than in October 2017

In November 2017 confidence in retail trade, manufacturing and services increased over the previous month. In construction it went down.

Manufacturing confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In November 2017 the manufacturing confidence indicator was 2 percentage points (p.p.) higher than in October 2017. Compared to November 2016 it increased by 7 p.p. and was 15 p.p. above the long-term average.
At the monthly level the situation indicators mostly improved, especially the overall order books indicator (by 6 p.p.). Only the production indicator worsened (by 1 p.p.), while the assured production indicator remained stable.
The expectation indicators increased at the monthly level, especially the expected export order books indicator and the expected total demand indicator (each by 4 p.p.). The expected employment indicator remained stable.

Investment in 2017 increased by 13% over 2016
95% of manufacturing enterprises invested in 2017. In these enterprises, investment increased on average by 13% compared to 2016. 94% of enterprises plan on investing in 2018.
In 2017 most enterprises invested in the replacement of worn-out equipment and in the extension of production capacity (28% of enterprises invested in each), followed by investment designed to streamline production (25%) and investment in other investment objectives (19%).
In 2018 most enterprises plan on investing in the replacement of old equipment (30% of enterprises), followed by the extension of production capacity (29%), investment designed to streamline production (25%) and investment in other investment objectives (16%).
Demand, financial resources and expected profits, and technical factors were the most stimulating to investment in 2017. The influence of other factors was limiting (e.g. tax policy, possibility of relocating production abroad). The same factors are expected to be stimulating and limiting in 2018 as well.
In November 2017 the present business situation indicator was 3 p.p. higher than in April 2017, while the indicator expected business situation in the next six months was 7 p.p. lower.

Retail trade confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In November 2017 the retail trade confidence indicator was 2 p.p. higher than in October 2017. Compared to November 2016 it increased by 12 p.p. and was 18 p.p. above the long-term average.
The values of the situation and expectation indicators mostly increased, except the business situation and the volume of stocks indicators. The expected sales indicator remained unchanged.

Construction confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In November 2017 the construction confidence indicator was 8 p.p. lower than in October 2017 and 13 p.p. higher than in November 2016. It was also 32 p.p. above the long-term average.
At the monthly level the situation and expectation indicators mostly decreased, except the technical capacity indicator and the business situation indicator. The overall order books indicator among the situation indicators and the employment expectations indicator among the expectation indicators decreased the most (by 6 and 9 p.p., respectively).

Services confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In November 2017 the services confidence indicator was 2 p.p. higher than in October 2017. Compared to November 2016 it increased by 8 p.p. and was 20 p.p. above the long-term average.
As in October, the values of the situation and expectation indicators slightly increased compared to the previous month. For the second consecutive month, the expected employment indicator decreased.
