Volume turnover in retail trade in September 2017 lower at the monthly and higher at the annual level
In September 2017 volume turnover in retail trade declined for the second consecutive month; compared to the previous month it was down by 0.3%. The decline was mainly due to lower turnover in specialized stores with automotive fuel (by 3.8%). Compared to the previous month volume turnover was also lower in trade with food (by 0.8%), while in trade with non-food products it increased by 0.3%.
At the annual level, in September 2017 volume turnover increased by 7.0%, which is 0.4 percentage points less than in the previous month. Compared to the same month of the previous year, volume turnover increased in retail trade with food by 0.3%, with non-food products by 4.9% and in specialized stores with automotive fuel by 16.0%.
In the first nine months of this year, volume turnover in retail trade increased by 9.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Growth was influenced by higher turnover in both specialized stores with automotive fuel (by 24.0%) and in retail trade except automotive fuel (by 3.6%). In September 2017 volume turnover in retail trade and wholesale of motor vehicles and their repair decreased by 2.4% at the monthly level; this was the largest decline since January 2017. Nevertheless, volume turnover was higher at the annual level (by 11.6%), as well as in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year (by 14.7%).Detailed data
