In September 2017 confidence in retail trade and manufacturing higher than in August 2017

In September 2017 confidence in retail trade and manufacturing increased over the previous month. In construction and services it went down.

Manufacturing confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In September 2017 the manufacturing confidence indicator was 2 percentage points (p.p.) higher than in August 2017. Compared to September 2016 it increased by 7 p.p. and was 11 p.p. above the long-term average.
At the monthly level the values of the situation indicators increased. The biggest increase was observed in the production indicator and in the export order books indicator (both by 5 p.p.).
The expectation indicators also improved at the monthly level, especially the expected employment indicator (by 5 p.p.), which reached its highest value in the whole period since 2005.  

Retail trade confidence indicator higher than in the previous month
In September 2017 the retail trade confidence indicator was 5 p.p. higher than in August 2017. Compared to September 2016 it decreased by 7 p.p. and was 12 p.p. above the long-term average. The improvement of the confidence indicator in September was influenced mostly by the sales indicator, whose value increased by 15 p.p.
The situation indicators and the expectation indicators increased compared to the previous month, except the volume of stocks indicator and the business situation indicator, which decreased.

Construction confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In September 2017 the construction confidence indicator was 1 p.p. lower than in August 2017. Compared to September 2016 it increased by 19 p.p. and was 35 p.p. above the long-term average.
The values of the situation indicators mostly decreased, except the prices indicator and the assured work in hand indicator, which increased. The values of the expectation indicators were higher than in the previous month. The overall order books indicator, the employment indicator and the expected employment indicator remained stable compared to the previous month.

Services confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In September 2017 the services confidence indicator was 1 p.p. lower than in August 2017. Compared to September 2016 it increased by 3 p.p. and was 14 p.p. above the long-term average.
Among the situation indicators the demand indicator decreased, while the employment indicator increased. The business situation indicator remained stable compared to the previous month. The values of the expectation indicators also mostly decreased, except the employment expectations indicator.
