In August 2017, 8% more building permits issued in Slovenia, the floor area 15% larger than in July

In August 2017, 6% more permits were issued for residential buildings and the floor area of these buildings was 1% smaller than in July. For non-residential buildings 10% more permits were issued and the floor area was 31% larger than in July.

The total floor area of planned buildings larger than in July

The total floor area of all planned buildings was 153,173 m2, which is 15% more than was planned in July. The planned floor area of residential buildings was 1% smaller and of non-residential buildings 31% larger than in July. Among non-residential buildings in August construction of larger hotels and similar buildings, office buildings and buildings for public entertainment, education or hospital and institutional care were planned than in July.

97% of all building permits were issued for new constructions and 3% for conversions. In comparison with July 2017, the number of building permits for new constructions increased by 7% and the planned floor area by 12%.

The average size of dwellings bigger than in July 

By issuing final building permits, in August 2017 construction of 278 dwellings was planned, which is the same as was planned in July 2017. The floor area of planned dwellings was 6% larger than the floor area of dwellings planned in July.  All dwellings, except one, were planned in residential buildings. The average size of dwellings in one-dwelling buildings will be 159 m2 and in two- and more dwelling buildings 124 m2.

By issuing building permits in August 2017, 5% fewer new dwellings were planned than in July 2017 but the planned floor area of the dwellings will be 3% larger.

Most dwellings to be built in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region

In August 2017, 60 dwellings were planned in the Osrednjeslovenska statistical region, which is 22% of all dwellings planned in the country. 59 dwellings (21% of all) were planned in the Podravska statistical region and 49 dwellings (18% of all) were planned in the Savinjska statistical region. In other statistical regions fewer dwellings were planned. In the Primorsko-notranjska statistical region no new dwellings were planned.
