In August 2017 the sentiment indicator broadly unchanged

In August 2017 the sentiment indicator was 0.1 of a percentage point lower at the monthly level and 4.8 percentage points higher at the annual level.

Sentiment indicator almost the same as last month
In August 2017 (11.3 percentage points) the sentiment indicator was 0.1 of a percentage point (p.p.) lower than in July 2017 (11.4 p.p.) and 13.7 p.p. above the long-term average.

Confidence indicators in retail trade and manufacturing had a negative influence on its monthly change (by 0.3 and 0.1 p.p., respectively), while the positive influence of the confidence indicator in services (by 0.3 p.p.) almost completely offset the negative influence. Confidence indicators in construction and among consumers had no influence on the monthly change of the sentiment indicator.

Sentiment indicator higher at the annual level
In August 2017 the sentiment indicator was 4.8 p.p. higher than in August 2016.

The rise of the sentiment indicator at the annual level was influenced by the services confidence indicator (by 2.0 p.p.), the consumer confidence indicator (by 1.5 p.p.), the construction confidence indicator (by 1.2 p.p.) and the manufacturing confidence indicator (by 0.3 p.p.), while the retail trade confidence indicator had a negative influence (by 0.3 p.p.).

Data are seasonally adjusted.

In January 2016 methodological changes were implemented in the Consumer Survey, which have an impact on the value of the sentiment indicator.
