In August 2017 the economic sentiment in Slovenia similar to July’s

In August 2017 confidence in retail trade decreased compared to the previous month, while in other sectors it remained unchanged.

Manufacturing confidence indicator the same as in the previous month
In August 2017 the manufacturing confidence indicator was the same as in July 2017. Compared to August 2016 it increased by 1 percentage point (p.p.) and was 9 p.p. above the long-term average.
The values of the situation indicators mostly decreased at the monthly level. The biggest drop was observed in the production indicator (by 12 p.p.). On the other hand, the opinion regarding stocks improved.
Among the expectation indicators the expected export order books and expected total demand increased (by 5 and 4 p.p., respectively).

Retail trade confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In August 2017 the retail trade confidence indicator was 5 p.p. lower than in July 2017. Compared to August 2016 it decreased by 6 p.p. and was 7 p.p. above the long-term average.
Among the situation indicators the business situation indicator and the selling prices indicator increased, while the volume of stocks indicator and the sale indicator decreased. The sale indicator pushed the confidence indicator down. Among the expectation indicators the selling prices expectations indicator and the expected employment indicator decreased, while the expected sales indicator and the expected orders indicator increased. The expected business situation indicator remained stable.

Construction confidence indicator the same as in the previous month
In August 2017 the construction confidence indicator was the same as in July 2017. Compared to August 2016 it increased by 25 p.p. and was 36 p.p. above the long-term average.
The values of the situation indicators mostly increased, except the assessment of building activity indicator, employment and the assured work in hand indicator, which decreased. The values of the expectation indicators were lower than in the previous month.

Services confidence indicator the same as in the previous month
In August 2017 the services confidence indicator was the same as in July 2017. Compared to August 2016 it increased by 7 p.p. and was 15 p.p. above the long-term average.
Among the situation indicators the business situation indicator slightly increased, while the employment indicator decreased. The demand indicator remained stable compared to the previous month. The values of the expectation indicators mostly increased, except the selling prices expectations indicator.
