In July 2017 the sentiment indicator lower at the monthly level and higher at the annual level

In July 2017 the sentiment indicator was 0.9 of a percentage point lower at the monthly level and 6.1 percentage points higher at the annual level.

Sentiment indicator lower at the monthly level
In July 2017 (11.4 percentage points) the sentiment indicator was 0.9 of a percentage point (p.p.) lower than in June 2017 (12.3 p.p.) and 13.8 p.p. above the long-term average.

The decrease at the monthly level was influenced by the confidence indicators in retail trade (by 0.5 p.p.), in manufacturing (by 0.4 p.p.) and among consumers (by 0.2 p.p.). The decrease in the sentiment indicator was partly offset by improved construction confidence indicator (by 0.2 p.p.), while the services confidence indicator had no impact.

Sentiment indicator higher at the annual level
In July 2017 the sentiment indicator was 6.1 p.p higher than in July 2016.

The rise of the sentiment indicator at the annual level was influenced by the consumer confidence indicator (by 1.9 p.p.), the construction confidence indicator (by 1.5 p.p.), the manufacturing confidence indicator (by 1.4 p.p.), the services confidence indicator (by 1.2 p.p.) and the retail trade confidence indicator (by 0.1 p.p.).

The sentiment indicator is the weighted average of the confidence indicators in manufacturing, retail trade, construction, services and the consumer confidence indicator.

Data are seasonally adjusted.

In January 2016 methodological changes were implemented in the Consumer Survey, which have an impact on the value of the sentiment indicator.
