Value of construction put in place, Slovenia, 2016

A quarter less construction work performed on civil engineering works

Construction enterprises in Slovenia performed EUR 1,609 million worth of construction work on all constructions, which is 14% less than in 2015. EUR 742 million of construction work was done on buildings (2% more than in 2015) and EUR 867 million on civil engineering works (25% less than in 2015).

Compared to 2015, the value of construction work whose investors were legal persons decreased by 17%, while the value of construction work whose investors were natural persons increased by 18%. Legal persons invested most in construction of transport infrastructure (EUR 489 million or 28% less than in 2015), while natural persons invested most in construction of residential buildings (EUR 162 million or 19% more than in 2015).

The value of construction put in place on buildings up by 2%

At the annual level, the value of construction put in place on buildings in Slovenia in 2016 increased by 2%. The value of construction put in place on residential buildings increased by 10%, while on non-residential buildings decreased by 2%. Among residential buildings, the value of construction put in place on one-dwelling buildings increased by 14%, on two- and more dwelling buildings by 10%, while it decreased by 21% on residences for communities.

In comparison to 2015, the value of construction put in place on non-residential buildings decreased by 2%. The decrease is mainly due to lower value of construction put in place on buildings for public entertainment, education or hospital and institutional care (50% lower) and on traffic and communications buildings (29% lower).

Among civil engineering works, most construction works were done on transport infrastructures

In 2016 25% less construction works were performed on civil engineering works than in 2015. Less construction works were performed on transport infrastructures (28% or EUR 188 million less), pipelines, communication and electricity lines (27% or EUR 97 million less) and on other civil engineering works (6% or EUR 4 million less). In comparison to 2015 more constriction works were performed only on complex constructions on industrial sites (6% or EUR 2,5 million more). Most construction works, EUR 491 million, were performed on transport infrastructures.
