The lowest self-sufficiency rate in supply balance sheets for vegetables, fresh fruits and potato

In 2016 Slovene citizen consumed on average the most cereals, i.e. 122 kg, and also 113 kg of vegetables, 94 kg of meat, 72 kg of fresh fruits, 69 kg of potato, 11 kg of eggs and slightly more than 1 kg of honey.

Calendar and market supply balance sheets published again
On the SI-STAT data portal the calendar and market supply balance sheets have been published again. Calendar supply balance sheets are compiled for a reference period of 12 months, that corresponds to the calendar year, but the market balance sheets are prepared for a period of 12 months, corresponding the production period of a certain group of agricultural products.


Especially low self-sufficiency rate for vegetables, fresh fruits and potato
Especially low rate of self-sufficiency was shown by supply balance sheets for vegetables, fresh fruits and potato in 2016 according to the provisional data; for vegetables it was 42%, for fresh fruits 44% and for potato 55%.


74-percent rate of self-sufficiency for cereals
Domestic production of cereals reached almost 640,000 tons in 2016, and domestic consumption reached almost 865,000 tons, therefore the self-sufficiency rate reached 74%. Production of fresh fruits amounted to 91,000 tons in the same year, and domestic consumption almost 210,000 tons, therefore the self-sufficiency rate remained relatively low, 44-percent.
