Dividends paid to different institutional sectors, Slovenia, 2016
EUR 678 million of dividends paid in 2016, 23.7% more than in 2015
In 2016, EUR 678 million of dividends were paid. This is 23.7% more than in 2015. Most dividends were paid to the rest of the world sector, EUR 213 million.
EUR 678 million of dividends paid in 2016
The non-financial corporations sector paid the most dividends, EUR 378 million or 55.7% of all payments, most of which to the government sector (EUR 91 million or 24.1%), followed by the rest of the world sector (EUR 85 million or 22.6%), households (EUR 74 million or 19.7%) and non-financial corporations (EUR 74 million or 19.5%). The financial corporations sector paid a total of EUR 300 million, which is 44.3% of all payments. The financial corporations paid the most to the rest of the world sector, EUR 128 million or 42.7%, EUR 86 million or 28.6% were paid to the government sector and EUR 56 million or 18.6% were paid to the non-financial corporations.
The biggest receiver of dividends in 2016 was the rest of the world sector
Most dividends in 2016 were paid to the rest of the world sector, EUR 213 million or 31% of all payments, followed by the general government (EUR 177 million), financial corporations (EUR 105 million), non-financial corporations (EUR 90 million) and households (EUR 87 million). The lowest amount was paid to non-profit institutions serving households (NPISH), EUR 5 million or 1.0% of all payments.
More dividends paid than in 2015
The dividends payments increased by 23.7% compared with 2015; from EUR 548 million in 2015 to EUR 678 million in 2016. If we compare payments of dividends by individual sectors in 2015 and 2016, we see that payments to individual sectors increased, except payments to the general government sector, which decreased by 2.4% (EUR 181 million in 2015 and EUR 177 million in 2016). Payments to the rest of the world sector increased the most, by 56.8% (EUR 136 million in 2015 and EUR 213 million in 2016), followed by the financial corporations sector, by 56.2%. Payments to the NPISH sector went up by 30.2%, to non-financial corporations by 22.7% and to households by 1.3%.
