In May 2017 confidence in all sectors lower than in April 2017

Compared to the previous month, in May 2017 confidence decreased in all sector: services, manufacturing, retail trade and construction.

Manufacturing confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In May 2017 the manufacturing confidence indicator was 3 percentage points (p.p.) lower than in April 2017. Compared to May 2016 it increased by 1 p.p. and was 7 p.p. above the long-term average. The value of the confidence indicator decreased markedly for the second consecutive month, which broke the upward trend that began in the second half of last year. The fall of the confidence indicator in May was influenced mostly by the overall order books indicator, whose value lowered by 6 p.p.
The values of the situation indicators mostly lowered. The value of the production indicator dropped the most (by 18 p.p.). Also the values of export order books and overall order books indicators decreased notably (by 6 p.p. each).
The values of the expectation indicators also mostly lowered; however, not to the same extent as the situation indicators. The values of the expected export order books and expected total demand dropped the most (by 3 p.p. each).

Retail trade confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In May 2017 the retail trade confidence indicator was 2 p.p. lower than in April 2017. Compared to May 2016 it decreased by 3 p.p. and was 1 p.p. above the long-term average.
Among the situation indicators, the volume of stocks indicator and the business situation indicator increased, while the selling prices indicator decreased compared to the previous month. The sales indicator remained unchanged. The expectation indicators mostly decreased compared to the previous month, except the expected orders indicator and the expected selling prices indicator. 
 
Construction confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In May 2017 the construction confidence indicator was 2 p.p. lower than in April 2017. Compared to May 2016 it increased by 22 p.p. and was 26 p.p. above the long-term average.
The situation indicators and the expectation indicators mostly decreased compared to the previous month, except the expected order books indicator.

Services confidence indicator lower than in the previous month
In May 2017 the services confidence indicator was 3 p.p. lower than in April 2017. Compared to May 2016 it increased by 7 p.p. and was 15 p.p. above the long-term average. It was lower due to the decrease in the present and expected demand indicators.
The situation indicators and the expectation indicators mostly decreased compared to the previous month, except the business situation indicator. The employment indicator remained unchanged.
