Waste, Slovenia, 2015
In 2015, a person in Slovenia generated on average 451 kg of municipal waste, of which 4 kg was hazardous
5.2 million tons of waste was generated in Slovenia in 2015, of which 18% was municipal waste. 69% of municipal waste was separately collected and almost 23% of municipal waste was landfilled.
More waste generated in Slovenia in 2015 than in the previous year
-
5.2 million tons of waste was generated, of which nearly 929,500 tons (18%) of municipal waste.
-
Compared to 2014, the amount of municipal waste increased by 4% and the amount of other types of waste by 12%, mainly because of construction waste.
-
In production activities more than 3 million tons (58%), in service activities nearly 1.6 million tons (31%) and in households slightly more than 550,000 tons (11%) of waste was generated.
-
In total, slightly less hazardous waste was generated than in 2014, but the amount of hazardous waste generated by households grew by 22%. Most of the 146,000 tons of hazardous waste was generated in manufacturing (55%); only 4% was generated in households.
-
Most of the waste was construction and demolition waste (28%), followed by waste from thermal processes (19%), waste from waste management facilities (13%), municipal waste (13%), waste from wood processing and from metal processing (12%) and waste packaging (5%). Other types of waste were generated in smaller amounts.
More separate waste collection in Slovenia in 2015 means also more waste recovery
-
Almost 638,000 tons of municipal waste (almost 11% more than in 2014) was separately collected.
-
3.2 million tons of waste (6% more than in 2014) was recovered (without backfilling and pre-treatment).
-
A little more than 275,000 tons of waste (almost 3% less than in 2014) was landfilled.
-
23% of generated municipal waste was landfilled (102 kg/capita).
-
Import and export of waste decreased compared to 2014 by 4% and 6%, respectively.
