In December 2015, over 557,000 tourist overnight stays, 9% more than in December 2014
In December 2015, 557,000 and in the whole year 2015 over 10 million tourist overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations with 10 or more permanent bedplaces in Slovenia. Compared to 2014 the number of tourist overnight stays in 2015 increased by 7%.
In December 2015 more than 233,000 tourist arrivals and more than 557,000 overnight stays were registered in tourist accommodations, which is 12% more tourist arrivals and 9% more tourist overnight stays than in December 2014. In the same comparison the number of domestic tourist arrivals increased by 8% and the number of their overnight stays by 5%. The number of foreign tourist arrivals was 14% higher, while the number of their overnight stays increased by 12%.
42% of domestic tourist overnight stays, among foreign tourists most overnight stays by Italian tourists
In December 2015 foreign tourists generated 58% of tourist overnight stays in Slovenia. Key markets, from which the most overnight stays of foreign tourists in Slovenia were registered, were Italy (37%), Austria (13%), Croatia (8%) and Germany (7%). In December 2015 tourists from Germany generated 18% more, tourists from Italy 16% more, tourists from Croatia 9% more and tourists from Austria 7% more overnight stays than in December 2014.
Permanent bedplaces in hotels occupied 40%
In December 2015, almost 32,000 units (rooms, apartments, houses, cottages, bungalows, places for camping, moorings for boats) with 85,000 bedplaces were available to tourists in Slovenia. In December 2015, 46% of all tourist bedplaces (permanent and auxiliary) were available to tourists in hotels, 12% in camping sites and 8% in private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings. Hotel rooms were on average occupied 43%, permanent bedplaces in hotels 40%.
In December 2015, almost 413,000 or 74% of tourist overnight stays were recorded in hotels and 37,000 or 7% in apartment settlements.
In mountain resorts 15% more, in municipality Ljubljana 14% more tourist overnight stays
In December 2015, the highest number of tourist overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (39% or more than 219,000), followed by mountain resorts (19% or 106,000) and seaside resorts (79,000 or 14%). In municipality Ljubljana 13% of tourist overnight stays was recorded. Compared to December 2014, a 15% increase in tourist overnight stays was recorded in mountain resorts, a 14% increase in municipality Ljubljana, a 7% increase in health (spa) resorts and a 4% increase in seaside resorts.
More than a fifth of foreign tourist overnight stays in municipality Ljubljana
38% of all tourist overnight stays were recorded in municipalities Ljubljana, Piran, Brežice and Bled. Most overnight stays of domestic tourists were recorded in municipalities Brežice, Piran and Moravske Toplice. (29% of all domestic overnight stays) and of foreign tourists in municipalities Ljubljana, Piran and Bled (42% of all foreign overnight stays).
In 2015 more than 10 million tourist overnight stays
In 2015, more than 3,811,000 tourist arrivals were registered in tourist accommodations with 10 or more permanent bedplaces or 11% more than in 2014 (domestic 9% more and foreign 12% more). In the same comparison the number of tourist overnight stays (10,016,000) increased by 7% (domestic by 6% and foreign by 8%).
