In 2014, 47 children and old people depended on 100 working-age persons (15–64 years)

In 2014, the share of agricultural holdings with organic farming or in conversion increased to 4.6%. Final energy consumption per capita decreased to 2.26 tonnes of oil equivalent per capita. The general government debt increased to 80.8% of gross domestic product.

The sustainable development indicators are grouped into three sections: Well-being, Balance and modesty, and Intergenerational cooperation. Each section is described through environmental, economic and social aspects.

Well-being: the share of agricultural holdings with organic farming or in conversion increased to 4.6% in 2014

The share of agricultural holdings with organic farming or in conversion is increasing. In 2014 it was 4.6%, which is 0.4 percentage points higher than in 2013. Compared to 2013, the share of utilized agricultural areas with organic farming or in conversion also increased, namely from 8.1% to 8.6%. The registered unemployment rate remained at the same level as in 2013 and was 13.1%. The number of students per 1,000 population is decreasing; in 2014 there were 41 students per 1,000 population.

Balance and modesty: final energy consumption per capita decreased to 2.26 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) per capita in 2014

Final energy consumption per capita is decreasing; it decreased from 2.37 toe per capita in 2013 to 2.26 toe per capita in 2014. Water supplied to households from public water supply also slightly decreased; it was 38.1 m3 per capita. In 2014, the number of passenger kilometers in public road passenger transport increased for the first time after 2002 and was 476,836,000 pkm, which is 3.8% more than in the previous year. The at-risk-of-poverty rate remained at the same level as in 2013 and was 14.5%.

Intergenerational cooperation: the general government debt increased to 80.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2014

Due to the ice storm, the intensity of wood removals in 2014 increased to 74%, which is almost 28 percentage points more than in the previous year. General government debt increased again to 80.8% of GDP, which is 10 percentage points more than in 2013. Compared to 2013, the age dependency ratio increased again, both for the young as well as for the old. So in 2014, 47.2 children and old people depended on 100 working-age persons (15–64 years). The share of children in kindergartens also increased to 76.8%. Among the statistical regions the share of children in kindergartens was the highest in the Osrednjeslovenska region (80.6%) and the lowest in the Zasavska region (68.4%).
