On 1 July 2015 Slovenia's population 2,063,077, 5% of which foreign citizens
On 1 July 2015 Slovenia had a population of 2,063,077 or 1,125 more than three months earlier. The number of Slovene citizens decreased while the number of foreign citizens increased and exceeded 5%.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
According to the Statistical Office of Slovenia, the population of Slovenia decreased by 1,125 in the second quarter of 2015. The number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by 500 (0.0%), while the number of foreign citizens increased by more than 1,600 (1.6%). On 1 July 2015 the 104,197 foreign citizens represented 5.1% of Slovenia’s population.
Increasing share of women among foreign citizens
On 1 July 2015 the population of Slovenia consisted of 1,022,554 men and 1,040,523 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.3% (this share has been slowly decreasing for a number of years); among foreign citizens there were 34.1% women (their share has increased by 4.2 percentage points in the last four years).
