In October 2015 confidence in construction, manufacturing and services higher than in September 2015

In October 2015 confidence in construction, manufacturing and services increased compared to the previous month, while in retail trade it decreased.

Manufacturing confidence indicator higher than in the previous month

In October 2015 the manufacturing confidence indicator was 2 percentage points higher than in September 2015. Compared to October 2014 it increased by 4 percentage points and was 10 percentage points above the long-term average.

The situation and expectation indicators mostly increased compared to the previous month, except the stocks of finished products indicator, which decreased.

The indicators that are observed four times a year mostly increased.
The current capacity utilisation was 81.5%; 1.9 percentage points lower than in July 2015. In 56% of enterprises the capacity utilisation was higher than 81%. In October 2015 the indicator of assessment of current production capacities according to expected demand in the next 12 months went up by 7 percentage points compared to July 2015. Among the indicators of competitive position, the indicator of competitive position on the markets inside the EU increased, the indicator of competitive position on the domestic market decreased, while the indicator of competitive position on markets outside the EU remained the same as in July 2015. In October 2015 the new orders indicator went up by 6 percentage points compared to July 2015.

The most important factor limiting production in October 2015 was insufficient domestic demand (stated by 37% of enterprises). It was followed by insufficient foreign demand (31%) and uncertain economic conditions (22%). 23% of enterprises experienced no limits in their activity.

 

Retail trade confidence indicator lower than in the previous month

In October 2015 the retail trade confidence indicator was 8 percentage points lower than in September 2015. Compared to October 2014 it decreased by 3 percentage points and was 5 percentage points above the long-term average.

The situation indicators decreased compared to the previous month, except the business situation indicator and the selling prices indicator. The expectation indicators decreased compared to the previous month, except the expected orders indicator and the expected employment indicator.

The most important factors limiting the enterprises in retail trade were low demand (47%), high costs of labour (41%) and competition in own sector (58%). On the other hand, 5% of enterprises experienced no limits in their activity.


Construction confidence indicator higher than in
the previous month

In October 2015 the construction confidence indicator was 4 percentage points higher than in September 2015. Compared to October 2014 it decreased by 5 percentage points and was 6 percentage points above the long-term average.

The situation and expectation indicators mostly increased compared to the previous month, except the assessment of building activity indicator, the technical capacity indicator and the employment indicator, which decreased.

The most important factor limiting the enterprises in construction was competition in own sector (40%). Other important factors were insufficient demand (36%), high cost of labour (34%) and high cost of material (27%).

 

Services confidence indicator higher than in the previous month

In October 2015 the services confidence indicator was 2 percentage points higher than in September 2015. Compared to October 2014 it increased by 8 percentage points and was 11 percentage points above the long-term average.

The situation indicators mostly increased compared to the previous month, except the employment indicator, which decreased. The expectation indicators mostly decreased compared to the previous month, except the expected price indicator, which remained unchanged.

The most important factor limiting the enterprises in services was insufficient demand (49%), followed by financial constraints (31%), other limitations (13%) and shortage of labour force (4%). On the other hand, 18% of enterprises experienced no limits in their activity.
