Government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D, final budget 2014 and initial budget 2015, Slovenia
In 2014, government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D in Slovenia were the lowest in the last 10 years
Government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D amounted to EUR 161.3 million or 0.43% of Slovenia's GDP.
According to the final budget 2014, government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D (GBAORD) in Slovenia amounted to EUR 161.3 million; this is 8% less than in the previous year, when the amount was EUR 174.5 million.
In recent years, we can see a downward trend of these funds, both in absolute terms and as a share of GDP. If government budget appropriations are expressed as a share of GDP1), in 2014 this share was 0.43% of Slovenia’s GDP, which is 0.06 of a percentage point less than in the previous year.
This trend continues, as provisional government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D in 2015 amount to EUR 157.9 million, which means that the government plans to spend EUR 3.4 million less funds on R&D than in 2014.
General progress of knowledge an important socio-economic objective
The structure of GBAORD by socio-economic objectives shows that in 2014 »General progress of knowledge« accounted for the largest share of total GBAORD (56%) and that »Industrial production and technology« and »Health« were also important socio-economic objectives for Slovenia. The situation was also similar at provisional government budget appropriations or outlays on R&D for 2015.
Coverage of funds for R&D from the EU Structural Funds
The above data do not include funds for R&D coming into the country from foreign public sources; so, no European funds for R&D from the EU Structural Funds are included. If GBAORD is shown in a way considering all R&D funding from the EU Structural Funds, including European funds Slovenia received for R&D (EUR 45.3 million), in 2014 EUR 206.6 million was spent on R&D, which is 0.55% of Slovenia's GDP.
