Lower carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions than in the previous year

In total 18.9 million tonnes of CO2 was emitted in Slovenia in 2013, which is 4.0% less than in 2012. During the combustion of fuels the highest CO2 emissions in 2013 in Slovenia were released in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, 42.9% of total CO2 emissions. Manufacturing contributed 15.3% of total CO2 emissions and transportation and storage 21.1% of total CO2 emissions, mostly in land transport. Most CO2 emissions in land transport were contributed by road freight transport. Other activities contributed 4.5% of total CO2 emissions and households 16.2% (73.4% of these emissions resulted from passenger road transport). In comparison with 2012, in 2013 CO2 emissions in land transport were lower by 6.3%, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 2.9%, in manufacturing by 2.9% and in households by 7.0%.

Lower nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions than in the previous year

In total 52,701 tonnes of NOx was emitted in Slovenia in 2013, which is 7.2% less than in 2012. In 2013 the highest NOx emissions were released in transportation and storage, more than a half (51.1%) of total NOx emissions (especially road freight transport); 17.6% of total NOx emissions were contributed by electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, 4.9% by manufacturing and 10.3% by other activities. Households contributed 16.1% of total NOx emissions (73.2% of these emissions resulted from passenger road transport). Compared to 2012, in 2013 NOx emissions were lower in manufacturing by 0.5%, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 9.1%,  in land transport by 8.8%, and in households by 4.9%.
