More meat gained than a month earlier
About 4,100,000 poultry, 17,500 pigs and 8,500 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in September. In this way, about 7,400 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,500 tonnes of pig meat and 2,600 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.
More meat gained at the monthly level
Compared to August, the slaughter of cattle went up by about 45% (by about 2,600 animals), of pigs by about 17% (by about 2,500 animals) and of poultry by about 3% (by about 112,500 animals).
The total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 13% higher. The total carcass weight of cattle went up by about 41%, of pigs by about 16% and of poultry by about 5%.

Compared to August last year, the slaughter of poultry went up by about 13% and of pigs by about 6%. On the other hand, the slaughter of cattle went down by about 3%.
The total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 8% higher than a year ago. The total carcass weight of poultry increased by about 12% and of pigs by about 6%, while the total carcass weight of cattle decreased by about 1%.
Estimate of slaughter outside slaughterhouses
In 2025, we started with monthly estimates of livestock slaughter outside slaughterhouses. Data are available from January 2025 on. We estimate that about 1,100 pigs, 6,800 sheep and 1,100 goats were slaughtered outside slaughterhouses in September.
