Import prices lower at the monthly and annual levels
In October, import prices were on average 0.4% lower than in September and 1.0% lower than a year earlier. In both comparisons, prices decreased the most in the section mining and quarrying.
At the monthly level, lower crude petroleum and natural gas prices
In October, import prices were on average 0.4% lower than in September. The prices of products supplied from the euro area were lower by 0.3% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 0.4%.
Consumer goods prices decreased by 0.8%, energy prices by 0.4%, and intermediate and capital goods prices by 0.1% each.
Compared to the previous month, prices went down the most in the section mining and quarrying in the group crude petroleum and natural gas (by 4.5%), and up the most in the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 4.4%).
Year-on-year, lower prices in the group coal and lignite and still higher prices in the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning
Compared to last October, import prices were on average lower by 1.0%. The prices of products supplied from the euro area decreased by 0.4% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 1.6%.
Year-on-year the prices decreased the most in the section mining and quarrying in the group coal and lignite (by 15.1%), and increased the most again in the section electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 34.6%).
