Number of goods vehicles at road border crossings up by 5%

In September, there were more passenger and goods vehicles at road border crossings. The number of passengers at ports was also higher.

New passenger car registrations up by almost a tenth

In September 2025, over 10,800 road motor vehicles were registered for the first time in Slovenia or 4% more than the year before. Of these, about 8,100 passenger cars were registered for the first time, which was 6% more in the same comparison. Over 4,800 were first registrations of new passenger cars or 9% more than a year ago.

The same number of passenger vehicles on the Drenov Grič counter section

Among selected counters on motorways, the section with the Drenov Grič counter near Vrhnika was the busiest with passenger vehicle traffic. It counted almost the same number of such vehicles as in September last year, i.e. around 1.8 million. The largest number of goods vehicles was recorded by the Ravbarkomanda counter near Postojna, which counted 0.6 million goods vehicles or 5% more.

More goods vehicles at road border crossings

In total, 6.9 million passenger vehicles entered or exited Slovenia via road border crossings, 1% more than in September last year. There were 1.7 million goods vehicles or 5% more.

At the airport more passengers and goods 

More than 176,200 passengers departed from or arrived at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, which was 13% more than last September. 1,060 tonnes of goods were handled, i.e. 8% more than in the same month of last year.

In ports over a fifth more passenger traffic

In total, 324 ships arrived at or departed from Slovenian ports, a fifth more than in September last year. Of these, 32 were cruise ships, which was 7% more. 28,662 passengers arrived or departed through Slovenian ports, which was 22% more than last September. 1.8 million tonnes of goods were handled in the port of Koper, which was the same amount as a year ago.

At the time of this release some inconsistencies were detected in the administrative sources, which is why the data for September on urban and interurban public scheduled road passenger transport have not been published. Data on urban and interurban public scheduled road passenger transport will be published in the SiStat Database as soon as they are available.

Data on port traffic published by SURS June differ from the data published by ports in their reports. The differences are due to the use of different methodologies (different data sources, tare consideration, etc.).
