Price indices and purchase of agricultural products, August 2025

Cattle almost a third more expensive

Compared to August last year, producer prices of agricultural products were higher on average by 9.7%.

Animals and animal products were 14.1% more expensive. The prices of animals for slaughter increased by 17.5%, mostly due to higher cattle prices. The prices of animal products increased by a tenth.

Crop products were 2.3% more expensive. Fruit prices went up the most (by 16.3%). Also higher were the prices of wine (by 9.5%) and cereals (by 6.1%). On the other hand, the prices of vegetables and potato were lower than the year before. 

Value of purchased livestock at the annual level higher by a third and of milk by a fifth

The total value of purchased agricultural products was higher by 13.5% year-on-year.

In the group livestock breeding, the value of purchase increased by almost a fifth. Significantly higher were the values of purchased livestock (by 33.5%) and milk (by 20.5%). Also higher were the values of poultry and eggs.

In the group fruit and wine growing, the value of purchase was down by 1.8%. The decrease was due to the lower value of purchased fruit. In comparison with last August, a smaller quantity of fruit was purchased, while the prices were higher. The value of purchased wine was higher by 7.8%.

In the group arable farming, the purchase value was lower by a tenth. The value of purchased cereals decreased by a quarter. On the other hand, the values of purchased vegetables and potato were higher.
