Smallest natural decrease this year
Compared to the same month of 2024, the number of live births decreased by 1% and number of deaths by 8%. According to provisional data, 65 more people died than were born which was the smallest difference this year. On average 49 children were born per day and 51 people died.
Slightly fewer live births
In the eight month of this year, 1,525 children were born in Slovenia, which was 13 (1%) fewer than in August 2024. On average 49 children were born per day (the same as a year before).
Fewer deaths
In the observed month, 1,590 residents of Slovenia died. This was 133 (8%) fewer than in August last year. On average 51 people died each day (five fewer than a year ago).

According to the first estimate, 980 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 21 September 2025. In the same period of last year, the number was higher (1,160 residents).
