Fewer births and deaths than a year ago
Compared to the same month of 2024, the number of live births decreased by 1% and number of deaths by 7%. According to provisional data, 117 more people died than were born which was the smallest difference this year. On average 49 children were born per day and 53 people died.
Slightly fewer live births
In the seventh month of this year, 1,512 children were born in Slovenia, which was 12 (1%) fewer than in July 2024. On average 49 children were born per day (the same as a year before).
Fewer deaths
In the observed month, 1,629 residents of Slovenia died. This was 123 (7%) fewer than in July last year. On average 53 people died each day (four fewer than a year ago).
What do data for August 2025 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 850 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 17 August 2025. In the same period of last year, the number was higher (972 residents).
