Increase in external trade in goods

In July, the value of external trade in goods grew both at the annual level and at the level of the first seven months. Only July value of exports to EU Member States went down compared to the previous year.

Key statistics for July 2025

Exports (EUR 6.0 billion):

Value 8.5% higher than in previous July.
The value of exports to EU Member States went down by 2.5% and to EU non-member countries up by 19.7%; without operations involving processing¹, exports to the latter decreased by 1.2% to EUR 949 million.

Imports (EUR 5.8 billion):

Value up by 10.1%.
The value of imports from EU Member States went up by 10.5% and from EU non-member countries by 9.6%; without operations involving processing¹, imports from the latter decreased by 2.6% to EUR 799 million.

The surplus amounted to EUR 0.2 billion, while the export-import ratio was 102.9%.

Slight decrease in July exports to EU Member States

In external trade with EU Member States imports increased by 10.5% and exports decreased by 2,5 %. The value of exports to Croatia declined the most.

This July imports value was the highest among all July imports values in the last ten years and the highest imports value so far this year in trade with this group of countries.

Growth of external trade also in the first seven months

In the period from January to July, external trade was higher than in the same period of the previous year. The value of exports of goods was 23.3% higher (it amounted to EUR 44.2 billion), while the value of imports of goods increased by 13.3% (it amounted to EUR 43.3 billion). Growth was more noticeable in trade with EU non-member countries, slightly more on the exports side.

The export-import ratio was 102.2%. Slovenia generated a surplus of EUR 1.0 billion in external trade in goods.

¹ Operations involving processing include modification, making, composition, improvement and renovation with the aim to produce new or significantly improved products.

Monthly data for 2025 are provisional. With each release the data can be corrected and completed with new data. Final data for 2025 will be published in June 2026.
