Slight population decrease in the first quarter
In the first quarter of 2025, the number of population decreased by 212. On 1 April 2025, foreign citizens represented 10.2% of the 2,130,638 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 April 2025, Slovenia had 212 fewer residents than three months earlier. In the first quarter, the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by nearly 2,100, while the number of foreign citizens increased by almost 1,900.
Slightly higher share of women among foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia consisted of 1,072,194 men and 1,058,444 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.0% (this share has been mostly slowly decreasing for a number of years), and among foreign citizens 37.7% (after the drop in the first quarter of 2023, this share has been increasing again).
