In May exports up, imports down year-on-year
In May, the value of exports was higher than in the same period a year earlier, while the value of imports decreased. Despite the decline at the monthly level, in the five-month period the imports value increased.

External trade in goods up in the first five months
In the first five months, external trade was higher than in the same period of the previous year. The value of exports of goods was higher by 28.6% (it amounted to EUR 32.8 billion), and the value of imports of goods by 10.8% (it amounted to EUR 30.3 billion).
External trade in goods during this period increased with both groups of countries: with EU Member States exports by 0.4% and imports by 3.0% and with EU non-member countries exports by 58.8% and imports by 18.5%.
External trade surplus amounted to EUR 2.4 billion, while the export-import ratio was 108.1%.
Exports (EUR 5.4 billion):
- The value was 5.6% higher than a year ago.
- The value of exports to EU Member States went down by 2.2% and to EU non-member countries up by 14.0%; without operations involving processing1, exports to the latter decreased by 1.8% to EUR 862 million.
- The value went down by 3.1%.
- The value of imports from EU Member States went down by 1.0% and from EU non-member countries by 5.2%; without operations involving processing1, imports from the latter decreased by 3.8% to EUR 762 million.
