Structure of earnings statistics, October 2024

The gender pay gap was 5.0%.

According to the internationally comparable methodology, the gender pay gap in October last year was 5.0%, which means that women earned on average 95.0% of average gross earnings per paid hour of men.

In three sectors of activities, women's average gross earnings were higher than men's

On total the average gross earnings per paid hour was EUR 12.98 (EUR 13.28 for men and EUR 12.61 for women), and the gender pay gap was 5.0%.

In most sectors of activities, average gross earnings per paid hour for men were higher than those for women. The highest gender pay gap was recorded in financial and insurance activities (22.5%) and in human health and social work activities (17.1%).

The negative gender pay gap, meaning that women's average gross earnings per paid hour were higher than men's, was in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-11.8%), in transportation and storage (-10.0%) and in construction (-8.4%).

Half of employees received less than EUR 1,983.91 of monthly gross earnings

The average monthly gross earnings of persons in paid employment by legal persons and by register natural persons amounted to EUR 2,339.76 (EUR 2,420.15 for men and EUR 2,242.22 for women). The median monthly gross earnings, which divide the population into two equal parts, amounted to EUR 1,983.91; for men EUR 2,051.68 and for women EUR 1,898.70. The average monthly gross earnings of half of the persons in paid employment was therefore lower than EUR 1,983.91. On the other hand, one tenth of the persons in paid employment received more than EUR 3,808.03 per month, and 1% received more than EUR 7,502.37

For women and men, the highest average net earnings was in the age group 65 years or older, and the lowest was in the 15-24 age group

Persons in paid employment received the average monthly net earnings in the amount of EUR 1,486.13 (men EUR 1,528.13 and women EUR 1,435.18). On average, the lowest average monthly net earnings were received by employees in the age group 15-24 years (EUR 1,077.98) and the highest in the age group 65 years or more (EUR 1,726.83); only in this age group women (EUR 1,751.73) received a higher average monthly net earnings than men (EUR 1,714.41).

The highest earnings for men and women in the Osrednjeslovenska region and in the public sector

The average monthly gross earnings was the highest in the Osrednjeslovenska region (EUR 2,658.74 for men and EUR 2,484.99 for women). The lowest gross earnings for men and women were in the Primorsko-notranjska region (EUR 2,106.44 and EUR 1,953.49).

In the private sector, the average monthly gross earnings was 2,208.42 (EUR 2,294.94 for men and EUR 2,064.73 for women), while in the public sector it was EUR 2,651.65 (EUR 2,924.72 for men and EUR 2,492.78 for women).

We found that at the transition to using a new data source there was an error in the calculation process of distribution of persons in paid employment by vigintile earnings classes for this period. We are currently verifying the data. The correct statistical data are expected to be published not later than 3 July 2025.
