More persons in employment month-on-month, the highest employment rate last year
The number of persons in employment increased by 0.1% in April, the most in accommodation and food services. Year-on-year, it increased the most in human health and social work activities, and decreased the most in manufacturing. The employment rate (15–64 years) was 70.0%, the highest ever.

Growth of the number of persons in employment
Compared to March, the number of persons in employment increased by just over 900, or 0.1%. The number went up among both employees and self-employed: by just under 600 or 0.1% among the former (to about 837,600), and by just under 400 or 0.3% among the latter (to just over 104,100).
On a monthly basis, the number of men and women in employment both grew: the former by just under 500 (0.1%) to about 519,000, and the latter also by just under 500 (0.1%) to about 422,700.
Compared to last April, the number of persons in employment was 0.4% lower, with the number of employees decreasing by 0.7%, and the number of self-employed rising by 1.9%. The number of men in employment decreased by 0.8%, while the number of women remained about the same.
Growth in most sections of activities
The number of persons in employment increased compared to March in 16 sections of activities and decreased in four. The largest growth was observed in accommodation and food service (by just over 300, or 0.9%). The most significant decline occurred in manufacturing (by about 300 persons, or 0.2%).
Year-on-year, the number of persons in employment increased the most in human health and social work activities, by 3.3%, and decreased the most in manufacturing, by 2.0%.
Highest employment rate
Last year's employment rate (percentage of the working age population (15–64 years)) was 70.0%, or 0.7 of a percentage point higher than in the previous year. For men, it increased by 1.0 p.p. to 74.0%, and for women, by 0.4 p.p. to 65.6%.
The employment rate went up in all statistical regions, the most in the Podravska statistical region, by 1.8 percentage points to 66.3%. The highest employment rate was recorded in Primorsko-notranjska (74.6%), and the lowest in Pomurska (63.0%).
The employment rate increased in 157 municipalities, remained the same in 15, and decreased in 40. Compared to the previous year, it went up the most in municipality Odranci (by 10.8 percentage points), which also had the highest recorded employment rate (91.4%). It went down the most in Ivančna Gorica (by 1.4 percentage points to 78.1%). The lowest employment rate was recorded in municipality Kuzma (38.7%).
