Gross domestic product, 1st quarter 2025
GDP down by 0.7% at the annual level
In the first quarter of 2025, gross domestic product (GDP) went down by 0.7% over the same period of 2024.
Domestic expenditure increased by 0.8%, with final consumption expenditure contributed positively with a 1.0% growth. The increase of household final consumption expenditure was minimal (0.4%). Gross fixed capital formation decreased by 5.1%, which was a similar decrease as in the previous quarter. Investment into buildings and structures, which went down by 9.0%, had the greatest impact.
The value of exports of products remained almost at the same level as a year ago. Imports went up slightly more, by 1.9%. The external trade balance had a negative impact on GDP growth (-1.4 percentage points).
