Less meat gained than the month before
About 3,400,000 poultry, 15,600 pigs and 7,400 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in February. In this way, about 6,100 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,500 tonnes of pig meat, and 2,200 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.
At the monthly level decline
Compared to January, the slaughter of pigs went down by about 14% (by about 2,600 animals), of poultry by 13% (by about 507,000 animals) and of cattle by about 4% (by 334 animals).
Compared to the previous month, the total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 12% lower. The total carcass weight of poultry decreased by about 15%, of pigs by about 11% and of cattle by 4%.

About the same amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses year-on-year
Compared to February 2024, the slaughter of pigs went up by about 6% and of poultry by about 2%. On the other hand, the slaughter of cattle went down by about 9%.
