April excessive deficit procedure report, 2021–2024
In 2024, the deficit of the general government sector amounted to 0.9% of GDP
The deficit of the general government sector in 2024 amounted to EUR 630 million or 0.9% of GDP, while gross debt amounted to EUR 44,895 million or 67.0% of GDP.
With this release we publish the Excessive deficit procedure report for the 2021–2024 period and forecast for 2025 (forecast has been prepared by the Ministry of Finance).
Compared to statistics published in the release Main aggregates of the general government (April EDP reporting), 2021–2024 on 31 March 2025, deficit of the general government sector for 2023 is higher by EUR 15 million due to recording in 2023 part of subsidies paid in 2024, and in 2024 by EUR 33 million due to lower revenue from corporate income tax. In line with this change, annual and quarterly statistics on main aggregates of general government, published in the SiStat Database, have been aligned.
