More persons in employment than in January
The number of persons in employment increased by 0.2% over the previous month. It went up the most in construction, by 0.7%. The number of persons in employment in urban settlements remained almost the same.

More persons in paid employment as well as self-employed
The number of persons in employment increased by just over 2,000 or 0.2% to approximately 938,500. There were about 835,100 persons in paid employment (nearly 1,800, or 0.2% more than the previous month), and around 103,400 self-employed persons (a monthly increase of just under 300 or 0.3%).
There were just under 517,100 men in employment (an increase of nearly 1,300 persons or 0.3% compared to January) and around 421,400 women in employment (monthly increase of about 700 or 0.2%).
Compared to the previous February, the number of persons in employment decreased by 0.3%, and the number of persons in paid employment by 0.6%. On the other hand, the number of self-employed increased by 1.7%.
A year-on-year comparison by gender showed that the number of men in employment went down by 0.6%, while the number of women in employment went slightly up.
Highest growth in construction
On a monthly basis, the number of persons in employment increased in 15 activities and decreased in 5. The highest growth was recorded in construction, by about 600 persons or 0.7%. The number of persons in employment decreased the most in manufacturing, by just over 200 or 0.1%
Compared to the previous February, the number of persons in employment in construction went down by 1.4% and in manufacturing by 1.8%. On a yearly basis, it increased the most in human health and social work activities, by 3.2%.
Lower number of persons in employment in more than half of urban settlements
Last year the number of persons in employment in urban settlements decreased by 15 persons compared to 2023. Among 104 urban settlements, their number went up in 34, with the largest increase observed in Ljubljana – up by just over 1,000 or 0.2%. In Lesce and Šmarje pri Jelšah the number of persons in employment remained unchanged. In 68 urban settlements, it went down, with the largest decrease observed in Logatec, by just over 100 or 2.9%.
