In November 2024, more net electricity was generated than in November 2023

Compared to the same month last year, both electricity production and energy supply increased in November 2024. Indicators of electricity consumption in households and business entities for 2023 have been published in the SiStat Database.

Total net electricity generation and export higher than a year ago, import lower

In November 2024, total net electricity generation was 1,341 GWh. Compared to October, it decreased by 14%, and compared to November 2023 it increased by 25%. Compared to the same month last year, generation in hydro power plants was 35% lower, in thermal power plants it was 43% higher and in solar and wind power plants it increased by 15%. The nuclear power plant underwent maintenance last November, so the electricity production was 162% higher compared to November of the previous year.

In line with the higher production in thermal power plants, fuel consumption also increased. Total fuel consumption was 33% higher than a year ago.

844 GWh of electricity was imported and 980 GWh was exported. Compared to the same month last year, import decreased by 2% and export increased by 24%.

More electricity consumed than in the previous month

In November, households consumed 307 GWh and business entities 625 GWh of electricity. With 320 GWh consumed, manufacturing dominated. Compared to the previous month, electricity consumption in households went up by a quarter and in business entities by 9%.

Energy supply up at the monthly and annual level

Compared to October, the supply of energy commodities in general went up: of natural gas by 51%, of lignite and brown coal by 41%, of hard coal 19%, of PG by 17%, of transport diesel oil by 11%, and of coke oven coke by 5%. On the other hand, the supply of kerosene jet fuel went down by 40%, of Heating and Other Gasoil by 14%, and of motor gasoline by 10%.

Compared to last November, the supply of energy commodities increased: of lignite and brown coal by 41%, of Heating and Other Gasoil by 38%, of hard coal by 31%, of other petroleum products by 18%, of natural gas by 9%, and of motor gasoline by 8%.
