Births and deaths, October 2024
A natural decrease despite more live births
Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of live births went up by 9%, while the number of deaths was almost the same. Despite that, a natural decrease was recorded: according to provisional data, 316 more people died than were born.
The number of live births up
In the tenth month of this year, 1,513 children were born in Slovenia, which was 119 or 9% more than in October last year. On average 49 children were born per day (compared to 45 in October 2023).
Almost the same number of deaths
In the observed month, 1,829 residents of Slovenia died. This was 3 fewer than in October last year. On average 59 people died each day (the same as in October 2023).
What do data for November 2024 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 987 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 17 November 2024. In the same period of last year, the number was lower (979 residents).
