Export orientation indicator the lowest, investment in net sales revenues the highest this year
In the 3rd quarter of 2024, the export orientation indicator at the level of all activities combined was 44%, the lowest this year. The operating efficiency ratio was the same as in the first quarter. Investment in net sales revenues was the highest this year.
Export orientation indicator the lowest in the last three quarters
The export orientation indicator at the level of all activities combined was the lowest this year (44%). Enterprises in manufacturing generated 74% of their total net revenue from sales in foreign markets, which was the lowest in the last seven quarters. In transportation and storage, this indicator was 45%, the lowest this year.
Operating efficiency ratio for the fifth consecutive quarter the highest in real estate activities
Operating revenues at the level of all activities combined were 7% higher than operating expenses. All activities recorded operating profit in the third quarter of this year. Real estate activities performed the best for the fifth quarter in a row, this time with the indicator value of 140%. They were followed by accommodation and food service activities with 126%, which typically achieve the highest operating efficiency ratio in the third quarter of the year. In manufacturing, the indicator value was 106%, the lowest in 2024.

At the level of all activities combined, investment in fixed assets amounted to 5% of total net revenues from sales. In manufacturing, investment in fixed assets amounted to 6% of total net revenues from sales, and in transportation and storage 8%, which was also the highest in 2024.

The final data are published once a year together with the publication of data for the 4th quarter of the current year.
In 2022–2024, the energy crisis had an impact on business operations. Subsidies related to business effects are also taken into account in the calculation of operational revenues and value added. In accordance with accounting standards, enterprises also include state aid due to high energy costs among these subsidies, and this should be taken into account when comparing data on a year-on-year basis.
From the reference year 2024 on, in addition to units with more than 49 employees also units with 49 or fewer employees are fully covered by the survey if they have at least EUR 10 million in revenue.
