Livestock slaughter in slaughterhouses, September 2024
More meat gained than in the previous month
About 3,600,000 poultry, 16,300 pigs and 8,700 cattle were slaughtered in Slovenian slaughterhouses in September. In this way, about 6,600 tonnes of poultry meat, 1,400 tonnes of pig meat, and 2,700 tonnes of bovine meat were gained.
Slaughter weight up at the monthly level
Compared to August, the slaughter of cattle went up by about 42% (by about 2,600 animals), and of pigs by 11% (by about 1,600 animals), while the slaughter of poultry remained almost the same.
The total amount of meat gained in slaughterhouses was about 12% higher. The total carcass weight of slaughtered cattle went up by about 38% or about 720 tonnes, of pigs by 16% or about 200 tonnes, and of poultry by 4% or about 250 tonnes.
