In October 2024, more net electricity was generated than in October 2023

Compared to the same month last year, both electricity production and energy supply increased in October 2024.

Total net electricity generation and export higher than a year ago, import lower

In October 2024, total net electricity generation was 1,550 GWh. Compared to September, it increased by 19%, and compared to October 2023 it increased by 77%. Compared to the same month last year, generation in hydro power plants was 55% higher, in thermal power plants it was 4% lower and in solar and wind power plants it increased by 44%. The nuclear power plant underwent maintenance last October, so the electricity production was 517% higher compared to October of the previous year.

Despite the lower electricity production in thermal power plants, fuel consumption remained unchanged.

697 GWh of electricity was imported and 1,146 GWh was exported. Compared to the same month last year, import decreased by 28% and export increased by 48%.

Electricity consumption in business entities lower than in the previous month, in households higher

Households consumed 246 GWh of electricity or 6% more than in September and business entities 571 GWh or 5% less. Accommodation and food service activities consumed 29 GWh. Ljubljana was the only municipality with more than 10% of electricity consumed within accommodation and food service activities, namely 17.3%.

Energy supply up at the monthly annual level

Compared to September, the supply of energy commodities in general went up: of lignite and brown coal by 36%, of Heating and Other Gasoil by 29%, of other petroleum products by 21%, of natural gas by 10%, of LPG by 7% and of motor gasoline by 5%. On the other hand, the supply of hard coal went down by 26%, of kerosene jet fuel by 21%, and of transport diesel oil by 8%.

Compared to last October, the supply of energy commodities increased: of Heating and Other Gasoil by 14%, of hard coal by 9%, of motor gasoline by 8% of natural gas by 3%, and of kerosene jet fuel by 3%.
