Producer prices up
After three months without price increases, in August, producer prices increased by 0.4% at the monthly level. On the other hand, they were down at the annual level by 1.0%.
Prices up in the monthly comparison …
Compared to July, producer prices increased by 0.4%. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market went up by 0.2% and on non-domestic markets by 0.5%. Of the latter, the prices of products for sale on the markets of euro area countries increased by 0.4% and those of non-euro area countries by 0.8%.
The prices increased in all main industrial groups; energy prices by 1.2% and intermediate goods, capital goods and consumer goods prices by 0.3% each.
In the monthly comparison, prices increased the most in manufacture of coke and petroleum products (by 8.7%), followed by manufacture of other transport equipment (by 4.3%), manufacture of leather and leather products (by 2.1%) and other manufacturing (by 1.2%). On the other hand, they decreased the most in manufacture of wearing apparel (by 1.1%), followed by electricity (by 0.8%) and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (by 0.3%).
… but down year-on-year
Producer prices went down by 1.0% in a year. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market decreased by 1.9% and on non-domestic markets by 0.2%. Of the latter, the prices of products for sale on the markets of euro area countries went down by 0.7% and of non-euro area countries up by 1.3%.
Energy prices decreased by 8.1% and intermediate goods prices by 1.8%, while consumer goods prices increased by 1.1% and capital goods prices by 0.3%.
Prices went down the most in electricity (by 13.2%), followed by manufacture of computer and optical products (by 4.6%), manufacture of basic metals (by 4.5%) and manufacture of paper and paper products (by 2.7%). They grew the most in manufacture of beverages (by 5.8%), followed by manufacture of wearing apparel (by 5.4%) and water collection, treatment and supply (by 3.3%).
