Key statistics
Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2023:
Much less waste planned for recycling and landfilling
A total of 2.2 million tonnes of waste were collected, or almost 22% less than in the same period last year. Of this, three quarters or 1.6 million tonnes were construction waste, which decreased by almost 600,000 tonnes, or a quarter. The amount of health care and biological wastes decreased even more, by a third.
Slightly more than 570,000 tonnes of waste was planned for recycling, which was more than a third less than in the same period last year. Of this, the amount of waste recovered in biogas plants fell by a fifth, while in compost plants it increased by more than a tenth. A little less than 30,000 tonnes or 12% more waste was intended for energy recovery. The amount of waste planned to be backfilled decreased by almost 230,000 tonnes or 16%. A little less than 45,000 tonnes of waste was planned for disposal, of which 16,000 tonnes were municipal, which is a tenth less than in the same period last year.

Between April and June, 275,000 tonnes of municipal waste was collected, which is almost 6% more than in the same period last year. Of this almost a quarter was mixed municipal waste, which increased by 14%. Even greater growth was among plastic and plastic packaging (by a quarter), followed by glass and glass packaging and bulky waste (both by a fifth).
In total, slightly less than 76% of municipal waste was collected separately. Among these, paper and cardboard (26%) and biodegradable waste (25%) together represented the majority share. More than a tenth of separately collected waste was also mixed and composite packaging (14%) and wood and wooden packaging (11%).
