Average earnings higher than earnings for May
Compared to earnings for May 2024, both average gross and net earnings for June 2024 were higher, in nominal terms by 1.0% and in real terms by 0.6%.
Earnings higher at monthly and at semi-annual level
Average earnings for June 2024 amounted to EUR 2,366.79 gross and EUR 1,501.97 net. Compared to earnings for May, they were higher, in nominal terms by 1.0% and in real terms by 0.6%.
Average monthly earnings for the first half of 2024 were also higher than earnings for the first half of last year. Gross earnings grew in nominal terms by 6.5% (and in real terms by 3.5%), while net earnings grew in nominal terms by 4.0% (and in real terms by 1.1%).
Growth of earnings at the semi-annual level higher in the private sector than in the public sector
Compared to earnings for May, average gross earnings in the private sector decreased by 1.1%, while in the public sector they were 5.2% higher (in the institutional sector general government, which is a part of the public sector, they went up by 6.3%). The main reason for such an increase in public sector earnings was adjustment of the values of the salary grades of the salary scale by 3.36% as of 1 June 2024 (i.e. 80% of the increase in consumer prices in the period December 2022–December 2023), which was agreed by representatives of public sector unions and the government at the end of last year.
Nevertheless, average monthly gross earnings for the first half of 2024 (compared to earnings for the same period of 2023) increased more significantly in the private sector (by 7.6%) than in the public sector, where they were higher by 4.4% (in the institutional sector general government they went up by 3.8%).
Again the highest in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply
On average, the highest earnings for June were paid in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 3,630.28 gross and EUR 2,241.33 net), while they were the lowest in accommodation and food service activities (EUR 1,746.26 gross and EUR 1,142.43 net).
