The highest growth of goods traffic on the section with the Čatež counter
On the section with the Gruškovje counter, the number of cars grew by 16% over the first quarter of the previous year. The largest number of motorcycles was recorded on the section with the Drenov Grič counter (6,100). Goods traffic grew the most on the section with the Čatež counter, by 18%.
The section with the Šmarje - Sap counter the busiest with passenger traffic
Among the selected counters, the motorway section with the Šmarje - Sap counter was the busiest with passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2024. It counted around 4.6 million passenger vehicles, which was 4% more than in the same quarter a year before. The least busy was the section with the Lendava counter, which counted almost 0.5 million passenger vehicles or 5% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The number of cars increased on all sections with selected counters, the most on the section with the Gruškovje counter (by 16%), and the least on the section with the Lipce counter (by 2%).
The number of buses increased the most on the section with the Zagorica counter, where there were 20,500, which was 21% more than in the same period last year. The biggest decrease was recorded on the section with the Lendava counter, as there were only 8,100, which is 4% fewer than in the first quarter of last year.
The largest number of motorcycles was recorded on the section with the Drenov Grič counter (around 6,100), and the lowest on the section with the Lendava counter (263). Traffic with motorcycles increased the most on the section with the Malečnik counter (by 79%), but fell most drastically on the section with the Gruškovje counter, where 2,000 motorcycles were counted in this quarter, and 4,000 in the 1st quarter of 2023.

Most goods traffic on the section with the Drenov Grič counter
The Drenov Grič counter detected the most goods traffic, it counted 1.4 million goods vehicles. Compared to the same period a year before, traffic on this section increased by 1.3%. The least congested section was Gruškovje, where 237,000 goods vehicles were counted, which were 9% more than the year before. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2023, the largest growth in goods traffic was recorded on the section with the Čatež counter, by 18%. On the other hand, the traffic of these vehicles decreased the most in the section with the Vučja vas counter, by 9%.
The section busiest with light trucks was the one with the Pšata counter, which detected 0.5 million light trucks, or 1% more than in the 1st quarter of 2023. The Gruškovje counter counted the fewest light trucks, 88,000.
The section with the Gotovlje counter was the busiest with medium (65,000) and heavy-goods (42,000) vehicles. The least busy with these two categories was the section with the Gruškovje counter, which counted 6,000 medium heavy and 3,000 heavy goods vehicles.
As regards trailers and tractors, the section with the Ravbarkomanda counter was the busiest; it detected 806,000, or 2% more than in the same period in 2023. In this category, traffic increased the most in the section with the Čatež counter, which counted almost 300,000 vehicles, or 20% more.
