The value of industrial production in 2023 lower than a year before
The value of industrial production and turnover in industry in December 2023 were lower both at the monthly and annual level.
The value of industrial production this time lower
The total value of industrial production was 7.5% lower than in the previous month. It was lower in mining and quarrying (by 3.3%), in manufacturing (by 3.0%) and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 2.7%).
The highest decrease was recorded in capital goods industries (by 6.4%), followed by intermediate goods industries (by 5.4%) and consumer goods industries (by 1.2%).
Compared to December 2022, the value of industrial production went down by 10.2%. It was lower in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 36.3%) and in manufacturing (by 8.1%), while in mining and quarrying it was higher (by 7.4%).
In yearly comparison, the total value of industrial production was lower by 5.3%.
Total turnover in industry also lower
Total turnover in industry decreased by 5.1%. It was lower in the non-domestic market by 5.2% and in the domestic market by 4.9%. In manufacturing it went down by 5.2% and in mining and quarrying by 4.8%.
Turnover in industry decreased at the monthly level in intermediate goods industries (by 3.4%), in consumer goods industries (by 2.4%) and in capital goods industries (by 2.0%).
Compared to December 2022, the total turnover was down by 7.2%. In manufacturing it was lower, while in mining and quarrying it was higher.
Compared to the previous year, in 2023 the total turnover in industry was lower by 1.1%. In the non-domestic market it declined by 1.3% and in the domestic market by 0.5%.
The value of stocks of industrial products higher at the annual level
In December, the total value of stocks in industrial production was 0.9% higher than in the same month of 2022. In 2023 as a whole, it was 11.2% higher than in the previous year.
Compared to November 2023, it decreased by 0.4% in total. It went down in mining and quarrying (by 1.9%) and in manufacturing (by 0.4%). It decreased in intermediate goods industries (by 1.2%) and in consumer goods industries (by 1.0%), while in capital goods industries it increased (by 1.5%).
