Level of confidence mostly unchanged, down only in construction

At the monthly level, confidence worsened only in construction, while in retail trade, manufacturing and services it remained the same.

Confidence the same in manufacturing …

The confidence indicator remained unchanged for the second consecutive month. Compared to December 2023 and the long-term average, it was lower by 1 percentage point (p.p.) and 8 p.p., respectively.

At the monthly level, the overall order books indicator increased by 3 p.p., the stock of finished products indicator decreased by 1 p.p., while the expected production indicator remained unchanged.

The labour hoarding indicator decreased in all three comparisons: at the monthly level by 4 p.p., at the annual level by 1 p.p., and compared to the long-term average by 3 p.p.

… in retail trade …

The confidence indicator was the same at the monthly level, 4 p.p. higher at the annual level and 9 p.p. above the long-term average.

The sales indicator increased by 30 p.p., the expected sales indicator decreased by 29 p.p., while the volume of stocks indicator was the same as in the previous month.

The labour hoarding indicator increased at the monthly level by 7 p.p. and was the same at the annual level. Compared to the long-term average, it was also higher (by 3 p.p.).

… and in services

Confidence has been same three times in a row. At the annual level, it was only 1 p.p. higher and 7 p.p. above the long-term average.

The business situation and expected demand indicators increased by 1 p.p., while the demand indicator decreased by 2 p.p.

The labour hoarding indicator increased at the monthly level by 1 p.p. and at the annual level by 2 p.p. and it was 1 p.p. below the long-term average.

In construction lower

The confidence indicator was 6 p.p. lower at the monthly level, 12 p.p. lower at the annual level and 12 p.p. above the long-term average.

The monthly decrease was influenced by both indicators: the overall order books and the employment expectations (the former decreased by 8 p.p. and the latter by 5 p.p.).

The labour hoarding indicator was higher at the monthly level by 3 p.p., higher at the annual level by 5 p.p. and in relation to the long-term average lower by 7 p.p.
