Consumer sentiment slightly down

In November, the consumer confidence indicator deteriorated at the monthly level by 1 percentage point, but improved at the annual level by the same degree.

Slightly lower at the monthly level …

The value of the consumer confidence indicator decreased by 1 percentage point (p.p.) compared to October, and was 6 p.p. below the long-term average.

Among the indicator’s components, consumers’ expectations for major purchases deteriorated by 4 p.p., and opinions on current households’ finances by 1 p.p., while indicators expectations about the country’s economy and expectations about households’ finances improved (by 2 and 1 p.p., respectively).

… but slightly higher at the annual level

Compared to November last year, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 1 p.p. higher, and was 4 p.p. above last year’s average.

The annual increase in the confidence indicator resulted from more optimistic expectations about households’ finances (by 6 p.p.) and opinions on current households’ finances (by 4 p.p.). On the other hand, the indicators expectations about the country’s economy and expectations about major purchases slightly deteriorated (each by 1 p.p.).

The data are based on the Consumer Survey, which was answered by 868 persons between 1 and 17 November 2024.
