Natural decrease again in October
According to provisional data for October, 426 more people died than were born. Compared to the same month of previous year, the number of deaths was almost the same and the number of live births decreased by 9%.
Fewer live births
In the tenth month of this year, 1,391 children were born in Slovenia, 136 or 9% fewer than in October 2022. On average 45 children were born per day (compared to 49 in the same month of 2022).

In the observed month, 1,817 residents of Slovenia died. This was almost the same than a year ago and 173 (9%) fewer than two years ago. On average 59 people died each day (compared to 58 in the same month of 2022).
What do data for November 2023 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 1,099 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 19 November 2023. In the same period of last year, the number was higher (1,117).
