Most overnight stays in health (spa) resorts
In tourist accommodation establishments, 423,000 arrivals and just over a million overnight stays were generated, the most in municipality Ljubljana. This is 4% more than a year ago. Foreign tourists generated 696,000 overnight stays, which is twice as many as domestic.
More domestic and foreign tourists than a year ago
Domestic tourists generated a third of all overnight stays. They generated 129,000 arrivals and 347,000 overnight stays, 1% more than in October last year. They spent the most nights in municipalities Piran, Moravske Toplice and Izola.
Foreign tourists generated the majority of tourist arrivals in October, with 295,000 arrivals and over 696,000 overnight stays, 5% more than in October last year. The most overnight stays were generated in municipalities Ljubljana, Piran and Bled.
In October, too, the largest number of tourists from Germany
The largest share of foreign overnight stays was generated by tourists from Germany (13% or 93,000 overnight stays), the most in municipality Ljubljana. Tourists from Austria generated 92,100 overnight stays, the most in municipality Piran. They were followed by tourists from Italy, Croatia, the United States and Hungary.
Compared to last October, the number of overnight stays increased the most by tourists from Hungary (by 34%). The greatest decrease (by 30%) was recorded by tourists from Italy.
Health (spa) resorts are the most visited
As regards the types of municipalities, the largest share of tourist overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (24%), the most in municipality Moravske Toplice, where one fifth of all overnight stays in health (spa) resort were generated. They were followed by seaside and mountain resorts (20% each), and Ljubljana (18%).
Compared to last October, the number of overnight stays increased the most in municipality Ljubljana, namely by 15%. More domestic as well as foreign overnight stays were recorded.

In hotels more than half of all overnight stays
Tourists still generated the largest number of overnight stays in hotels (566,500 or 54% of all overnight stays), followed by private accommodations – rented rooms and dwellings (18%) and camping sites (7%).
About 57,500 indivisible units and over 148,000 permanent bedplaces were available to tourists this October.
In the first ten months the number of overnight stays up by 3%
From the beginning of January to the end of October, 5.6 million tourist arrivals and almost 14.7 million overnight stays were recorded in Slovenia, which was 3% more than in the same period a year ago.
So far this year, domestic tourists generated almost 4 million or 27% and foreign over 10 million or 73% overnight stays. While domestic tourists generated 19% fewer overnight stays than last year in this period, foreign generated 15% more.
In the first ten months, tourist from Germany generated the largest number of overnight stays, 1.8 million, which is one fifth of all foreign overnight stays. They were followed by tourists from Austria, Italy and Croatia.
