Producer prices slightly down
Prices of industrial products keep decreasing. At the monthly level, they decreased the most in manufacture of computer and optical products. On the other hand, they increased at the annual level, the most in manufacture of wearing apparel.
Prices down at the monthly level …
Producer prices in October were on average 0.1% lower than in the previous month. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market went down by 0.3% and on non-domestic markets up by 0.1%. Of those, the prices of products for sale on the markets of non-euro area countries increased by 0.1% and of euro area countries remained on average the same.
Intermediate goods prices went down by 0.4%, while energy, capital goods and consumer goods prices each went up by 0.1%.
Prices decreased the most in manufacture of computer and optical products (by 2.9%), followed by printing and reproduction of recorded media (by 2.2%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (by 1.2%) and manufacture of basic metals (by 0.7%). They increased the most in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, and in manufacture of wearing apparel (each by 1.0%), followed by manufacture of rubber and plastic products (by 0.9%) and manufacture of motor vehicles and trailers (by 0.5%).
… and up at the annual level
Compared to October last year, producer prices increased by 0.9%. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market went up by 2.5% and on non-domestic markets down by 0.7%. Of the latter, the prices of products sold on the markets of euro area countries decreased by 1.2% and of on-euro area countries increased by 0.4%.
The prices of consumer goods increased by 5.7%, and of capital goods and energy by 3.8% each. On the other hand, the prices of intermediate goods decreased by 2.9%.
The price increase was the highest in manufacture of wearing apparel (by 20.0%), followed by manufacture of beverages (by 17.2%), mining and quarrying (by 10.7%) and electricity (by 10.4%). The prices decreased the most in manufacture of coke and petroleum products (by 21.2%), followed by manufacture of basic metals (by 16.4%), and manufacture of computer and optical products (by 7.2%).
