Population increase in the first half of the year
In the first half of this year, the population increased by nearly 4,000. On 1 July 2023, foreign citizens represented 9.3% of the 2,120,937 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 July 2023, Slovenia had 3,965 residents more than six months earlier. In the first half, the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by nearly 3,300, while the number of foreign citizens increased by almost 7,300.
Slightly lower share of women among foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia consisted of 1,066,634 men and 1,054,303 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1%, and among foreign citizens 36.5%. Both shares were slightly lower than six months ago, but up from the last quarter.
